Promises Made - Promises Kept

Dear Friend,

I am honored to have served you in the Senate for the past 3 years. There isn’t a day that goes by, that I’m not reminded of the tremendous trust you have placed in me as your representative.

When I ran for the Legislature, I made many promises, and I have worked tirelessly to deliver on those promises.

As your State Senator, I promised to show prudent oversight over your taxpayer dollars.  I authored legislation that identified millions of dollars in savings in health care costs for the Department of Corrections, and Medi-Cal.

I promised to grow jobs in the Central Valley, by securing state and federal funding.  I have secured more than $6.3 billion dollars for Central Valley workers for the Altamont Commuter Express (ACE), UC Merced, High Speed Rail County Fairs, and other local infrastructure projects.

As a Member of the Delta Protection Commission, I am committed to protecting the health and wildlife habitat of our San Joaquin Bay Delta.  I worked to ensure passage of the water bond, and authored legislation to encourage regional water projects -- NOT tunnels.

As Chair of the Assembly Agriculture Committee and in my current role as Chair of the Senate Agriculture Committee, I have fought to protect water rights for our farmers, and fought to restore funding for the “Agricultural Education Incentive Grant” funding in our classrooms.

During my tenure in the Assembly and Senate, I have had 70 bills signed into law by Democratic Governor Jerry Brown, and Republican Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

I hope you will agree, I have delivered results – I have kept my promises.

But my work is not done.  This year I am working to secure more than $100 million dollars from Proposition 1E to strengthen our levee system in San Joaquin County, I’m working to protect small business owners from ADA lawsuits, and I’m fighting to end the “negative bailout” for Stanislaus County taxpayers who receive less than their “fair share” of tax dollars from the State.

Your support has been crucial to me from the beginning.  I am now asking for your help once again, so I can finish the work we have started.   Will you consider lending your name as an endorser, displaying a lawn sign, and volunteering your time to help us build a grassroots team of supporters?

I look forward to talking with you in the coming days and months, and I am grateful for your consideration.

Cathleen Galgiani, Senator, District 5
